Watson's Greenhouse and Nursery had its humble beginnings in 1974 as a U-pick vegetable operation, exclusively managed by the family. Starting with a modest 14 x 14 ft. greenhouse for cultivating a few houseplants, it quickly became evident that more space was needed. Multiple greenhouses were subsequently constructed, expanding the enterprise.

In February 1984, Watson's Greenhouse and Nursery ventured into the retail business, introducing 10,000 sq. feet of wooden greenhouses for growing and sales. Initially, the operation was manned by a two-person team consisting of Fran Watson and her daughter, Maidee Watson. In 1990, Dan Watson retired from his 30-year career in education to join the family business on a full-time basis. The staff gradually grew, reaching a peak of 50 members during the busiest seasons. Terri Elliott, another daughter, joined the company in 1993.

Between 1986 and 1997, the retail space expanded to encompass 20,000 sq. feet, accompanied by an additional 30,000 sq. feet of growing area. In 1998, Watson's further expanded its growing facilities by adding 23,000 sq. feet. A significant transformation took place when Watson's embarked on a major remodeling project for its retail store. Numerous existing greenhouses were replaced with a stunning 32,500 sq. ft. glass and steel structure imported from Belgium. This new space allowed Watson's to offer an expanded gift line, garden art, and a wider range of gardening products and plants.

At Watson's, the majority of the annual plants, planters, and hanging baskets are cultivated on-site, ensuring exceptional quality. The team at Watson's remains committed to providing the best plant material and customer service possible.
